May is Disability Insurance Awareness Month. Coordinated by the LIFE Foundation, it’s a time when the insurance industry comes together to do something about the enormous gap that exists between Americans’ need for disability income protection and the actual coverage they have in place.
Dozens of insurance companies and other industry groups participate with awareness-building and marketing efforts, but that’s just the beginning. People need help assessing their needs and understanding their options. That’s where insurance professionals like you come in. You can make an important contribution to DIAM by dedicating May to helping people in your community with their disability insurance needs and motivating them to take action.
The LIFE Foundation offers a DIAM Planning Toolkit to help insurance professionals develop their plans for the May campaign. A new version of the kit for the 2010 campaign will be available early in the year. Until then, explore the tools and resources that are available in the 2009 kit. To learn more about these and other resources, please email Maggie Leyes at mleyes@lifehappens.org or call 202-464-5000 ext. 4458.
