LIFE Is Here to Educate and Motivate
I recently read some statistics from a New York Life survey with Hispanics that were both encouraging as well as disturbing.
First of all, it showed that Hispanics are rethinking the way they view financial security for their loved ones: 77% of Hispanic adults agreed that the recession increased their desire to provide a financial safety net for their families. This is good, as it shows increased awareness for the need to provide financial security.
But only 25% said that life insurance would fund their family’s future if something happened to the breadwinner. Only 25%? There is a significant breakdown between increased financial awareness and taking action to provide the needed financial security.
Almost half of the survey respondents pointed to a lack of information about financial planning as a major obstacle to getting the coverage they need.
Our industry needs to do a better job of educating and motivating consumers to make appropriate financial decisions to protect their loved ones, and this is what the LIFE Foundation is all about. The insurance companies and agents need to use our resources as an independent non-profit organization to educate and encourage all consumers to make the decision to protect their loved ones. We, the LIFE Foundation, were built for just this.
