Please read Contest Official Rules and the Terms & Conditions of Participation before submitting your photo:
1. ELIGIBILITY: The Crazy4Love Photo Contest (“Contest”) is only open and offered to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 18 years of age (or the age of majority in their jurisdiction, whichever is greater) or older. Void where prohibited. Employees, officers and directors of the LIFE Foundation (“LIFE”) and their immediate families (children, spouse, parents, siblings) and those living in their same households, whether or not related, are not eligible. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of the judges, which are final and binding in all respects.
2. CONTEST PERIOD: Contest begins at 5:00:00 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) on January 15, 2010 and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. ET on February 19, 2010 (the “Contest Period”). LIFE reserves the right to adjust any deadline(s) as the result of causes beyond its immediate control.
3. TO ENTER: Submit a photo that demonstrates how you expressed your love to someone very dear to you, along with a description (no more than 50 words) of what was particularly meaningful or memorable about that moment (“Entry”). Entries will be judged on the uniqueness and creativity of the photograph. LIFE is interested in photographs that capture the full range of emotions – from expressions of love that are crazy, silly and embarrassing to ones that are romantic, loving and tender. Originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact and artistic merit will also be considered in the selection of the winners.
Your Entry must be submitted using the microblogging Web site Tumblr.com. See step-by-step instructions for how to enter the contest, including a video tutorial, which can be found at www.lifehappens.org/lovecontest. Entries submitted via Tumblr are subject to Tumblr’s Web site’s Privacy Policy. If you have trouble using Tumblr, please consult its online help files. LIFE is not responsible for any issues or problems you encounter while trying to upload a photo on Tumblr. Limit one (1) Entry per person. All Entries and materials submitted become property of LIFE and will not be acknowledged or returned.
4. ENTRY GUIDELINES: Entrant is responsible for obtaining publicity releases from any/all subjects appearing or mentioned in the Entry. Entries must not include any entity’s brand name, logo, company name, trademark, service mark, copyrighted material, or material that is in any way proprietary.
Minimum resolution for photo submissions is 320 x 240.
To be eligible for entry in the Contest, entries must be received by LIFE no later than 11:59:59 p.m. ET on February 19, 2010 (“Entry Due Date”). Receipt of entries will be acknowledged, but entries will not be returned.
Entries that exceed the 50-word description count, are not received by the Entry Due Date as stated above, and/or do not meet these Entry Guidelines will be disqualified. By submitting an Entry, you warrant that Entry does not violate any law, regulation or right of any third party, including but not limited to copyright, trademark, rights of publicity or privacy, that you have followed the Official Rules of the Contest. If Entry contains an identifiable person other than entrant, by submitting Entry, entrant represents and warrants that he/she has obtained the consent of such person to use the photo/description as outlined herein and such person will be required to provide written consent form prior to any awarding of prizes. No prize will be awarded without consent received. Previously published material for which non-exclusive rights were granted may be entered as long as you still permit LIFE to use and/or license the photograph (as described below). You must be able to disclose when and where the photo appeared previously to LIFE upon request.
5. YOUR RIGHTS: You will retain all rights to the photo you submit—including ownership if applicable—other than those rights licensed in the next sentence. By entering the contest, you hereby grant to LIFE, its member organization licensees and its agents (i) a nonexclusive, worldwide, irrevocable, royalty-free license to reproduce, distribute, publicly display and publicly perform the photograph and/or description you submit to the Contest in all media now known or developed in the future, and (ii) the right to use your name in promotions and other publications, print, video and online. You further grant LIFE the right to allow promotional materials that include your Entry to be embeddable by the public via Tumblr, YouTube or other online video or photo services.
All photographs will be credited with the caption "© Year. Person's Name". LIFE has final approval of any language that appears on its Web site with any of the photos and will not promote or endorse third-party products or services.
6. JUDGING: The winning photos will be chosen by a judging panel consisting of a professional photographer and several members of LIFE’s Board of Directors and staff. The judging panel will select one Grand Prize winner (1) and five Runner-up winners (5). Winners will be announced in April 2010 and winning photos will be featured on LIFE’s Web site at www.lifehappens.org.
7. PRIZES: One Grand Prize Winner (1): The Grand Prize winner, as determined by LIFE, will receive one $1,000 Travelocity gift certificate towards a romantic getaway. The Grand Prize winner is responsible for all federal, state and local taxes associated with his/her respective trip. Five Runners-Up (5): Runners-up winners (5) will each receive an American Express gift card with a retail value of $100 each. Winners may not substitute, assign or transfer prize or redeem prize for cash, but LIFE reserves the right to substitute prize with prize of equal or greater value.

By entering, participants agree to indemnify, defend and hold harmless the LIFE Foundation (“LIFE”), its respective subsidiaries, affiliates, directors, officers, employees, members, attorneys, agents and representatives, from any and all third-party liability for any injuries, loss, claim, action, demand or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with the contest (collectively, "Losses"), including, without limitation, any third-party claim for copyright infringement or a violation of an individual’s right to privacy and/or publicity right. The Contest is void where prohibited by law.
Each participant in the Contest (each a "Participant") is responsible for ensuring that he or she has the right to submit his or her photo to the Contest per these rules (see additional “Compliance Alert” below).
The Grand Prize winner must provide their names, address, and Social Security number to LIFE, and is responsible for payment of all income taxes due on account of their receipt of prizes.
You agree that any and all disputes that cannot be resolved with LIFE, and causes of action arising out of or connected with this Contest, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, before a court of competent jurisdiction located in Arlington, Virginia, which court shall apply the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia without regard for rules of conflicts of law. IN ANY SUCH DISPUTE, PARTICIPANT SHALL NOT BE ENTITLED TO ANY PUNITIVE, SPECIAL, INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ATTORNEYS' FEES, OR ANY DAMAGES OTHER THAN PARTICIPANT'S ACTUAL OUT-OF-POCKET EXPENSES (IF ANY) ASSOCIATED WITH PARTICIPATING IN THE CONTEST. YOU HEREBY WAIVE ANY RIGHTS TO HAVE DAMAGES MULTIPLIED OR INCREASED. The Contest and LIFE’s Web site are provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied.
LIFE is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by Web site users or by any equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest, or by any technical or human error that may occur in the processing of submissions to the Contest, including but not limited to any misprints or typographical errors. LIFE assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. LIFE is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer equipment, servers, providers, computer on-line systems, software, or failure of email on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, including injury or damage to participant's or to any other person's computer related to or resulting from participating or uploading images or information in the Contest.
If, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of completion as planned, including, but not limited to, any reason of infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of LIFE that corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, LIFE reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest.
LIFE is also not responsible for any questionable or inappropriate material that is uploaded to Tumblr in connection with the Contest. LIFE staff will do its best to remove said material as quickly as possible.
COMPLIANCE ALERT: If you are a licensed insurance agent, be advised that the insurance companies you do business with may not permit its sales representatives to use Tumblr for business-related purposes. Before entering the Contest or encouraging clients and prospective clients to enter, please check with the companies with which you do business to find out if policies exist that prohibit your participation in promotions of this nature.
