We all like to be recognized for doing the responsible thing. I know I proudly wear the stickers to let people know “I Voted Today” or to “Be Nice to Me, I Gave Blood Today.” But where is the sticker for “I Protected My Family with Life Insurance?” Life insurance is one of those things that rarely gets recognized or rewarded and yet it’s one of the most responsible and loving things you can do for your family.
That’s why we decided to create the Insure Your Love Picture Mosaic. Featured as a new app on LIFE’s Facebook fan page, we’re encouraging people to upload photos of their loved ones whose financial wellbeing is safeguarded by life insurance. It’s a chance to highlight the important decision they’ve made while also connecting them to this large community of people who have made the same, responsible choice.
I know when I purchased life insurance for my family, I felt really good about the decision. It continues to give me peace of mind knowing that my wife would be protected if anything ever happened to me. That’s why one of the photos I uploaded to the mosaic features us on our wedding day. After adding it, I used the App’s Facebook and Twitter sharing options so my friends and family could view it in the mosaic. It also gave me a chance to encourage them to contribute their own photos or think about getting life insurance if they don’t have any.
Our hope is that eventually the mosaic will feature thousands of photos of families and individuals whose financial wellbeing is safeguarded by life insurance. And for every photo that gets uploaded to the mosaic, LIFE will donate $1 to the LIFE Lessons Scholarship Program, a fund that provides tuition assistance to students who’ve lost a parent or guardian and are struggling to realize their dream of a college education.
So if you have life insurance, come be a part of “the bigger picture” by uploading your favorite photos (up to 20) to the Insure Your Love Picture Mosaic. If you haven’t yet made the decision to get covered, then I encourage you to take a tour of the photos that are displayed there. They are the perfect reflection of what life insurance is intended to do – protect those we love and give us the peace of mind to experience all of life’s wondrous moments.
